Phonics and Sight Words Practice

My readers enjoy Jack Hartmann's videos because they are fun and engaging. They always include catchy music and movements that kids can easily follow.  Visit his Kids Music Channel on You Tube for some fun ways to practice sight words and phonics skills.  His tunes are very catchy!  You just may catch yourself singing them long after the videos are over!

Learning Sites

This image is from Totally Terrific in Texas .  I thought you may find it to be a useful resource for finding some wonderful, free activities to do at home with your child.  Starfall is always a big hit with first graders.  Fact Monster has some great flashcard practice, too.    Vooks is also a great place to visit to listen to story books online.    Don't forget to practice sight words with Jack Hartmann on his Kid's Music Channel on You Tube.   Go Noodle is also a great way to exercise, dance, and just have fun!  Stay safe, stay home and wash your hands!

Everyday Math Resources

Book

We use Everyday Mathematics Edition Four in first grade.  Here is a link to the parent resource page :

The page gives information on homework, goals for each unit and even how to play the games we use in class at home.  I hope you find this information useful.

Best Wishes to Miss Williams!

On March 13th, 2020, we said our good-byes and offered well wishes to our IUP student teacher, Miss Williams.  We made her a fingerprint tree, a book of advice for teachers and shared cookies in celebration.  We wish her all the best.  We will miss sharing our days with her in Room 22.
